About Me
My name is Fatima Eltassi. A Lebanese Canadian currently residing in Calgary, Alberta and the creator of Western Canada Women's Jiujitsu.
I am a black belt under professor CJ Hollett at 101 Academy.
This tournament was established after recognizing that women's jiujitsu was not receiving equal competitive opportunities. My mission is to empower women across the nation and to promote equality within the jiujitsu community.
The intention of this tournament is to both encourage women who don't normally compete to come out and have fun, as well as create a space for competitors to showcase their hard work. I am a firm believer in building relationships and having a strong unified community, which is the reason why I set the tournament up the way that I did. I value connections and networking, respect and kindness, as well as positive reinforcement and camaraderie. The goal is for women to leave the tournament with at least one new relationship.
